HERE IS MY SPRING PROJECT
When I think of Spring I think of walking the beaches.
Winters here mean ruff seas, high tides, and lots of treasures to be found,
so hitting the beach at a low tide will bring you an abundance
of seashells, sea-glass, interesting driftwood and lots of new rocks.
One of our favorite things to do is beachcombing in pacific northwest...
Feeling the cool breeze brush across my face cleanses my soul.
Walking hand in hand with my husband watching our fur babies
run along the waves brings joy to my heart
and smiles to everyone they come in contact with.

My husband always teases me...
"How can you enjoy the beauty of the beach when your head is buried in the sand?"
Easy... I'm treasure hunting!
Some of my treasures are seashells.
I have several shadowboxes filled with different shells
like these....

I love incorporating my found treasures into my art,

but...  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with all my clam shells
until one of my friends sent me a picture of painted shells...
I've been painting rocks for years, I guess I just never
thought about painting a seashell, so I gave it a try....
Each spoke to me with what should be painted on it.
The texture is a little challenging when using pens,
but I'm liking how it plays with the image.
Here's what I did with them:
painting with a brush is so much easier as your brush will
flow and glide across the shell effortlessly.

Above I used a black sharpie and just doodled some basic designs.

There was a natural indent and design already in this shell
it needed a raven basking in the moonlight.
The inside of each shell I've included a quote, poem, or inspirational word
giving each shell a hidden gift of surprise.
This shell demanded a Sunflower as it had natural hues of yellow, green, and orange.

After I finished painting, I sealed the shell with an acrylic clear spray to protect my art.

Now it's your turn... either go for a walk on the beach, or to your local craft store
to find some shells, I highly recommend the beach walk if it's possible.
