Art Abandonment Project

Most of you who follow me on Facebook may have noticed recently in the past two months I've been a very active member in The Art Abandonment Project created by Michael and Andrea DeMeng.
Art Abandonment is a group designed to encourage random acts of art, left in various locations around the globe. The idea is that folks can make something and leave it for a lucky unsuspecting person to find. Artists can then post locations and photos of abandoned goodies…and finders can let everyone know that they are the lucky finder! O' sweet abandon!

 Here's an intro page on Typepad for full explanation:

Here are several pictures of items I have left from Port Townsend all the way down to Vancouver Washington. If your one of my lucky recipients... Please post what and where you found the item I've left... I'd love to hear your experience...good, bad, or indifferent.
 Left at Doc's Bar and Grill Point Hudson, PT
 I left this one in the ladies restroom at Costco in Silverdale, WA
Sweet Lorette's Cafe and Bistro PT,WA
At a sweet little shop in Port Townsend
 I've left these all over Port Townsend at the hospital, beach, parks, fair,  stores, and restaurant's

These have been left at the hospital in different books and magazines.
 I left this one at the post office where I mailed out 7 others cards to friends around the world.
 These last three are to be abandoned this coming Monday
somewhere around the Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend
when I go for my next chemo therapy...

For me it's all about the giving part... the putting a smile in someone's heart that makes me want to abandon my precious pieces of me. I put a little bit of my heart and soul in each piece I make... sending it out into the world as a gift to brighten someone's day is why I've been leaving items for the past several years now... This isn't a new concept to me, I just didn't start six months ago when Art Abandonment launched... no I've been leaving little treasures for many many years now...  I just never publicly advertised that I was doing random acts of kindness....

Ever since I got sick in 2000... something in me changed. I knew it was no longer about me but rather how I make others feel that truly matters. I think when we expect things to happen we become disappointed because it never rarely happens the exact way we imagine... but sending little gifts out into the world, no one is ever expecting that they will find something special that day, which makes my gift all the more exciting.

For the past several years on Valentine's day I've been handing out homemade cards to everyone I come in contact with... normally I'm getting chemo that day so most go to the hospital patients, staff, and visitors... I can't tell you how many people have said that it's the first valentine they had received in years, or the first ever random gift by a stranger or friend. Some even said that they've never received a card or gift on Valentine's day... which broke my heart! I started with 50 homemade Valentines... now I average 350 deliveries. Last Valentine's day I had 10 friends send me their handmade valentines to add to the mix to be hand delivered....There is just something magical that happens deep in your soul when you make another's heart sing....♥ With Valentiens quickly approaching it's time to get those Valentines ready... here are a few that went out last year...

So in the spirit of Art Abandonment leave some art. Leave a contact email for the finder…and if you get notified share the message with this group.

Here is a sample of what I leave for others to find alongside my art piece or attached as shown in my pictures above.

If you prefer you can use the contact email: i.found.artwork@gmail.com
Michael and Andrea we'll be checking it often and share the results on Art Abandonment in Facebook... We'd love to have you join in on this amazing movement and adventure... We started with a handful of people... today the group has grown to 6,211 members strong in less than 7 months...People from all corners of our world have joined in, we look forward to seeing you there
Enjoy and have fun! ♥

Welcome To My Pinterest Boards

After months and months of seeing all my friends Pinterest boards pop up all over Facebook,
I decided to check it out, see what was so special about all this pinning stuff...
Well, to say the least... There should be a WARNING attached to all pins...lol.
It is soooooo addictive, fun, exciting, mesmerizing, hypnotic and riveting.
One could completely get lost for hours and hours and not even remember where you started
or how you got in. I have learned so much about things I never knew existed.
It's like window shopping around the world, but not just for stuff!
You can find ideas, examples, inspiration, educational explanations, ways to decorate, how-to's, art,
creative storage ides, photo's that are beautiful and just to love, gardening tips, art instruction, unique food,
quotes, whimsy inspirations, places to visit around the world, dream destinations, cooking tips made easy,
valentines, promotions, contests, sweet treats, holiday ides, etc....
The list can go on and on and on...
The thing I really love about this site is that you can keep all your likes, desires, wants, needs, dreams, projects, recipes, how-to, and future home ides, whether you think you'll need something now or if you may need it at some future date, like if your planning on having a baby, or your little ones may be going to school or off to college in the near future...
It's a place where you can organize everything you like in one place.
If that we're enough... You can also see what others like.
You can see what your kids like, want, or covet
(even though we've been told our whole life to never covet anything...lol).
We all know how well that one worked out...
Is it called coveting or is it dreaming? I'd like the think it's called dreaming....
Dreams are what we are all made of!
I also love that you can see what your family and friends like or would like,  making for easy gift idea's.
It can even help spark your creative juices flowing, I think my D.I.Y. Craft Ideas board is one of my largest.
So if you haven't checked out Pinterest yet I urge you to give it a try,
if your like me you'll be amazed at the wealth of information, imagination and motivation.
I only have about 25 boards and 130+ pins but some of my friends have thousands so if you get board with mine, I'm sure you find many many more to keep you entertained.
But.... Don't take my word, check it our for yourself and add me to your friend list,
I'd love to see what boards you come up with!
~  Enjoy! ~

On Line Art Groups I love

Most of you who know me, know that my medical issues keep me home-bound a lot . Being a part of an online art group has helped open my world and kept my sanity. Doing art helps me deal with my pain, depression, and immobility.  It get's me out of my head, keeps me focused on what's important in my life, helps keeps my mind working, my hands creating,  and it encourages me to be the best that I can be.

Here you will find some of my on-line communities and current events. I hope you'll check them out, join in and start creating some art of your own.

 Once a month we send out Post Cards to each other,
wonderful, unique art we have made by hand.

These are just a few of our recent  topics/challenges.
Each month we create something using the style or our interpretations of the posted artist.
We can use whatever medium we choose,
it just has to be mailable.
(My postal workers love me and my art.)
I switch it up...
I love to collage so I do this a lot...

 sometimes I paint,
(Watercolors)

some months I'm feeling more like drawing in ink,

Last month, I challenged myself,
I used a new medium I've never tried,
Pastels...
I really liked how smooth they felt across the page,
and how easy they were to blend,
but a little more difficult to seal for safe mailing.
I can't wait to use them again!

Our challenge this month is
 "Famous Women In History"
Maya Angelo

Check back soon to see what I've come up with... I'm thinking another collage is due!

This is one of my video's I've produced for the tag art group I use to host over at Roses On Our Table.  At the time there were about 100 of us in the group from all over the world and all walks of life. I had been hostessing the group for about a year and loved it, but life got in the way and I had to resign... The one thing I miss most is being surround but the most amazing artists and the most beautiful, loving, caring and compassionate woman around. I've had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful souls on line and in person.. Being a part of this group had brought me so much love and joy into my life,  every day was a true inspiration. If you're looking for a compassionate group to join, Zinna and everyone will welcome you with open arms. If you check them out, please tell them I said Hello and that I miss them all....

I have a couple more videos to complete and post, check back soon for an update.

Here's an intro page for a full explanation of Art Abandonment
Here are a few items I have left in a variety of place from
Vancouver Washington to Portage Glacier Alaska.

The reason why I abandon my art... You never know who's day needs to be brightened, letting someone find a little work of art may give them an ounce of hope, a ray of light... it may let them know that they are loved, that there are good people in this some times dark world... To those who may be overwhelmed by life's events and may need a little something that says someone cares.... Finding an abandoned piece of art can be life changing....
It makes me feel good to make another person smile.
Hopefully my art will do that.
Time to abandon some more art !
~~~
These are some of my little joys in life,
I hope I've made you smile,
peaked your interest and introduced you to some creative adventures....
~Enjoy~
